Planting Tips for Fall Bulbs
1. Dig a trench for bed planting or individual holes for
individual bulbs or groups of bulbs.
2. Dig holes 8 inches deep for larger bulbs and 5 inches deep
for smaller ones.
3. Loosen soil with a rake to aerate it. Mix in some peat
moss to improve soil drainage. Place bulb in hole with point
facing up. Do not push them into soil with point facing down.
4. Space large bulbs 8 inches apart and smaller bulbs 1 to 2
inches apart.
5. Cover bulbs with soil and give them plenty of
water. Add 2-3 inches of mulch to protect from cold and
moisture loss.
6. For best results, add fertilizer immediately after
planting and then again before and after flowering.
